What is the difference between iliad and aeneid

Near the end of both wars, each hero must face and kill a final foe: as Achilles kills Hector, the bravest of the Trojan army, Aeneas kills the hero of the Latins, Turnus. However, the motive of revenge that drives Achilles to murder is absent for the hero of "The Aeneid" until, with the enemy leader pleading for his life, Aeneas discovers that Turnus has killed his beloved ally, Pallas.

In both texts, it is clear from the beginning that the role of the gods is to make Aeneas and Achilles fulfill their journey The Iliad focuses on the end of the Trojan War and the damaging power, while the Aeneid is focused during the aftermath of the war and underlies the foundation for the new civilization.

This paper will address and argue the comparison of the role of gods and how each of the authors representation of the gods have influence on the lives of mortals. In both the Aeneid and the Iliad their main characters were chosen by gods because they have gained favor. Aeneas and Achilles were chosen because they were destined to fulfill a journey. The gods in both works directed the lives of mortals, but, were also very specific on who they would help. Since the beginning of time, people have looked to a figure of power that would help them in their time of need.

Arguably, between the two, Theseus is the better epic hero because he is ethical and morally upright and because his life ends tragically. Now when it comes to what an epic hero is, there are many traits and characteristics, some of those being: having significance and glory, going on a quest to establish greatness, and facing enormous tasks of adversity. His tragic flaw was attempting to faithfully continue serving the "true" Emperor Marcos Aurelius, not considering the possible consequences he might have to face in order to return Rome to a Republic for the people.

Captain John H. Miller was the captain of the American Army. He, like Maximus, does not give up very easily. This makes the reader support the antagonist because they seem more of a hero than the protagonist. This happens during The Nether. The real war was never a problem for Gene. His jealousy towards Finny was his own personal war and what he did because of his jealousy eventually became a hard battle for gene to live with. When Finny died, so did Genes.

The story helps Achilles development as a person. In the beginning of the epic we see Achilles with many flaws and by the end of the epic we see him move past from his flaws and see him overcome them. The protagonist of the Aeneid and known hero to many, Aeneas, was a man of many virtues.
